Since 1982, the French-born artist Philippe Boissonnet has lived and worked in Montréal (Canada), and since 1993 has taught visual and media arts at the University of Quebec (Trois-Rivières).

Boissonnet's early work included drawings, copier-art and photography. Over the last twenty years he has developed a strong body of work integrating holography and light with sculpture and/or interactive installation pieces.

The interactive holographic installation (Galileo) exhibited in the 286 Gallery's show is from a series of two works entitled 'The awareness of limits' that was produced in1992 and 1993.

A review of Philippe's work, by Derrick De Kerckhove is viewable here.
